Questions people actually ask

How do I win the jackpot?

Match all five numbers drawn. Order does not matter — pick your five, and if the five that come out are the same five, the jackpot is yours. No bonus ball to dodge.

What happens if nobody wins it?

It rolls. The jackpot carries into the following Saturday and grows, which is exactly how the pools dividend always worked — a big week was big because nobody had won for a while. It is on £64,000 now, after three weeks without a winner.

What if I only match two?

You have won a free line for next week. It happens to about one line in ten, which is why roughly one line in nine wins something. Match three and it is £15, four is £500, five takes the lot.

What is a perm?

Pick more than five numbers and we play every possible five-number combination of them. Seven numbers is twenty-one lines. It is the oldest idea in the pools, and nobody else in this market offers it.

When is the draw?

The coupon closes at 7:45pm on Saturday and the draw is at 8pm. Anything added after 7:45 goes onto next week's coupon instead. Once a draw is published it is never extended or rescheduled.

How do I know the draw is fair?

Numbers come from an independently certified random number generator. Every entry is logged and verified before the draw is run, and the full entry list is sealed at close.

Can I stop a weekly subscription?

Any week, online, in two taps. No notice period and no phone call. You keep any entry already paid for.

How do I enter for free?

Send your name, address, date of birth and your five numbers on an unenclosed postcard to Freepost THE POOLS PRIZES, to arrive by Friday. A postal entry has exactly the same chance of winning as a paid one, and there is no limit on how many you send.
